Amazon app turns Blackberry into Kindle

Only over the Pond

Amazon.com has released a Kindle application for Blackberry users, giving them access to their e-books on a smaller screen.

The application allows users to access the Kindle shop and read one of its 400,000 books on a small screen.

But the Kindle for Blackberry application is only available for users in the U.S. It is unclear whether or when the firm might offer a similar app elsewhere, like over here.

A similar iPhone app was launched in March 2009.

Amazon.com said it plans to add more features to the Kindle for BlackBerry app, including the ability to search and scroll through books.

It also has plans to release versions of the app for both Apple Macs and the Apple iPad which may or may not be approved by Jobs' brownshirts.
