Microsoft Planning Wireless Charging Pad Feature

Microsoft has filed a for a patent for a newly developed wireless charging device, which, according to the patent filing, is designed to wirelessly charge devices such as tablet PCs, smartphones and other wireless computer peripherals such as mouse and keyboards. 

According to the figures on the patent application, which was filed on February 18th by Microsoft Beijing, the wireless charging pad will feature a tiny display screen on one side and on the other it will be an inductive charging pad. 

According to sources working within Microsoft, the device is designed to wirelessly charge other devices with the same speed and efficiency of a cord charger and will aim to offer portable charging for other Microsoft products which the company plans to introduce in the near future. 

Microsoft, describing the intricacies of the innovative inductive charging pad, wrote in the patent filing that “A charging device as described herein can utilize a sensor-integrated resonating circuit with automatic frequency control to prove low-cost inductive charging functionality for electronic devices.” 

Several industry analysis indicated that the company is planning to enter the smartphone and tablet PC market with full force by offering a range of high-tech products including the iSlate (in partnership with HP) and the Windows 7 for mobile OS; add the inductive charging pad to the mix.
