Crucial is now shipping its super-fast 256GB 2.5-inch SATA solid state drives, but all of that speed comes with a hefty price tag.

The RealSSD C300 raises the bar for SSD throughput with read speeds of of to 335MB per second from the 2.5-inch drives which use high speed synchronous NAND memory and a 6Gb per second interface.

But you'll need deep pockets it if you really need one of these puppies as they're currently listed at over £600 of for the top-line 256GB model.

Cheapskates can opt for the 128GB version with identical specs (apart from the capacity of course) for just shy of £380.
