Zotac launches first ION 2 powered mini PC

Coming soon to a home theatre near you

Maker of mini mobos Zotac has announced the first home theatre PC crammed into a mini ITX case powered by Nvidia's recently announced ION 2 graphics chipset.

The Zbox HD-ID11 pairs the Nvidia GPU with Intel's Dual Core D510 Atom CPU running at 1.6GHz allowing the PC to automagically switch between Intel's puny onboard graphics and NV's much gruntier option depending on the demand.

The Zbox will be sold without RAM or storage, but provides space for a single 200 pin DDR2-800 SODIMM and a 2.5-inch SATA hard drive bay.

All the expected HTPC connections - including 802.11 wifi, gigabit ethernet, six USB 2.0 ports, a multi-format card reader, VGA and full 1080p HDMI with 8-channel sound - are present and correct.

No details on pricing or availability are currently out there.
