LG Adds Fresh & Plus To Cookie Family
LG's entry level range of handsets now consists of two more models, the Cookie Plus (LG GS500) and Cookie Fresh (LG GS290), both of which complement the popular original model.
Both come with what LG calls a "cartoon-styled" user interface which it calls LiveSquare and which apparently targets social networking users. More specifically, the interface will pull online status and live updates from the likes of Myspace, Facebook, Twitter and others.
The GS500 is a 3G smartphone with a 3-megapixel camera while the GS290 is a 2-megapixel camera and only 2G. Other features include a 3-inch 240x400 pixel resistive touchscreen, FM radio and a 3.5mm audio socket.
They also share the same rubber outer grip and will be avaialable in 16 colour variations, will go on sale shortly in more than 60 countries worldwide amongst and should be in the UK fairly soon
Dr. Skott Ahn, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, enthusiastically said in a statement that "LG Cookie Series reflects our effort to bring creativity and fun to the mobile touchphone experience."
No launch prices have announced yet although we expect both to compete with the Samsung Corby or Genio around the £100 barrier.
