Facebook hits Internet top spot

Google toppled for the first time

Facebook is officially the most popular site on the Interweb, for one week at least.

Digital bean-counters at Experian Hitwise reckon the social notworking site toppled search engine virtual monopoly Google from the top spot for a full week for the first time last week.

Facebook grabbed 7.07 per cent of all Interenet traffic, whilst Google could only manage a pathetic 7.03 per cent.

The fake friend simulator has occasionally superseded Google as the King of the Castle, but only on very special single days like Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and my birthday.
