News@Five : New Sony Vaio Netbook, Virgin Media's HD Box, Refurbished iPhones From O2

In today's News@Five, we will look into some of the scorching news stories that surfaced during the day, including the launch of Sony's very first netbook, HP's £380 notebook and Samsung's Jet Ultra smartphone.

Sony Corporation has decided to venture into the lucrative netbook market with the launch of its brand new VAIO M series £300 netbook, which weighs just 1.5 kg and comes with a 250 GB hard drive. However, Sony's new toy looks a lot like the Samsung NC10, that has a VAIO logo.

Samsung on the other hand, has partnered with O2 to offer its Jet Ultra smartphone at a subscription rate of £15 per month. Interestingly, O2 has decided to give away three free DVDs of American Gangster, Casino and `Scarface, in order to promote the phone.

The company has also started selling refurbished iPhone's for as low as £25 for a period of 2 years.

Virgin Media has announced that the company will rolling out a new set top box which will allow users to watch HD channels by coughing £49 per month on top of their monthly subscription.
