Samsung Rolls Out Jet Ultra Smartphone On O2

O2 has managed to get hold of the Jet Ultra smartphone for as little as £15 per month and, oddly, will come with three excellent gangster DVDs.

The device - also known as the GT-S8000 - comes with the same specifications as the older Samsung Jet. You shall get the same 800MHz ARM-based processor, a 3.1-inch AMOLED display, a 5-megapixel camera with Flash and 2GB onboard storage expandable via a microSD card reader.

Other noteworthy features include the Touchwiz user interface, Samsung's own inhouse OS (not BADA), Bluetooth, WiFi, AGPS, TV Out, support for a number of video codecs and iPlayer compatibility plus a slightly reworked chassis compared to the original one.

O2 will be giving a box set called the Ultimate Gangster collection and containing American Gangster, Casino and Scarface on DVD to the first 10,000 customers.

A sign of things to come surely, O2 has introduced the phone on some of its cheapest tariffs yet. You can get it for £15 a month on a two year contract with 100 minutes, unlimited text and unlimited data.

No details as to whether it will go on PAYG and at what cost. O2 has not confirmed when the O2 exclusivity will end although we suspect it will be after the DVD boxsets have run out.
