Twitter hacker caught in France

A 25-year-old has been arrested in France, accused of hacking Twitter. The bloke, thought to be Hacker Croll, was carted off in a black van after a joint operation invloving the FBI.

Croll - his real name has not been released - is supposed to have gained access to various Twitter accounts including those of Britney Spears and Barack Obama. This is apparently such a naughty activity that the FBI mounted an international operation to apprehend the prankster.

He was held for questioning in the the Puy-de-Dome region of central France, French plod said.

A second hack on Twitter claimed by 'Hacker Croll' penetrated the account of CEO Evan Williams.

The bloke arrested had a history of minor Internet-related pranks, police said. Croll did not benefit financially from his exploits. Rather he enjoyed a challenge, according to the Frogs.
