Steam offers free Modern Warfare weekend

Game delivery giant Steam is offering frag fans the chance to play the mulitplayer version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for free.

Penniless punters can download the first person shooter WW2 game's code now and start blowing bits out of their friends with machine guns from this Thursday and throughout the entire weekend.

We're not sure how Valve's servers will cope with possibly millions of noobs turning up and wandering around looking dazed and confused, but it will certainly provide experienced players with lots of cannon fodder.

Carnage and complaints are expected in equal measure.
