Super Talent punts cheap SSDs

Less than fifty quid for eight gigs

Californian flash aficionado Super Talent has announced four new budget solid state drives.

The 2.5 inch SATA II SSDs come in 8, 16, 32 and 64GB flavours and promise 'no compromise in performance', though sequential red/write speeds of 90/30 MB per second for the two smaller drives and 150/60 and 150/100 MB per second for the two bigger versions respectively won't exactly set the world alight.

The company is aiming the drives at self-building PC fans who want to run a snappier-booting OS, although you might have trouble cramming Windows 7 into anything smaller than the 32GB version.

Dubbed VSSD (the v is for value) the drives are available now ranging from $65 (£42.78) to $125 (£82.26).
