Apple patches Pwn2Own hole

Apple has posted an unscheduled security patch to fix the hole pointed out at this year's Pwn2Own.

The annual hackfest, which is hosted by Tipping Point, saw Charlie Miller ripping apart Apple's security using a maliciously crafted font, of all things.

As usual, most people were crowing about how the MacBook had been hacked in seconds, conveniently forgetting to mention that Miller came to the table with the exploit pre-prepared and that it had taken him two weeks of solid slog to find the flaw.

The 6.3MB download, which is available through Software Update, will fix OSX installs from 10.5.8 up to 10.6.3.
