Microsoft Quietly Cans Forefront Protection Manager

According to a latest announcement made by Microsoft, the software maker has declared that it will release Forefront Endpoint Protection 2010 as a part of System Center Configuration Manager, instead of releasing it as an independent software.

The announcement to drop the PC protection software came from the Forefront team at Microsoft Research, in order to ensure that the company has all of its energy and resources focused on its upcoming Forefront Server Security Management Console and Forefront Server Security Script Kit software.

The software, Forefront Protection Manager, which was expected to arrive early this year, will not see the light of the day, as Microsoft has decided to replace it with another software, which could be installed on its server, however, no additional details have been disclosed by the company.

Renouncement of Forefront Protection Manager is a latest addition to the several delays and improvements that have taken place in Microsoft's Forefront portfolio. However, the launch of the beta version is expected to be launched in the third quarter of 2010.

According to the blog post made by Microsoft, the company promises to provide its customers with better functions in many of its server security products in the later part of the year at no extra cost.
