Steam gets a massive facelift

Taking social gaming to the next level

Game delivery outfit Valve has updated its Steam web portal with dozens of new and improved features.

The major redesign which was announced some months ago is now available either through the 'Check for Steam client updates' function for existing users, or here if you're new to the game.

The update seems to concentrate on Steam's core mission of providing social gaming to the masses and much of the new functionality revolves around interaction with friends.

Steam has also made it easier to keep up with the latest goings on in the gaming world as each game now has its own dedicated news channel.

Achievements have also had a lick of paint and in-game accomplishments are now listed inside the main game library.

Speaking of the game library, it is now possible to list all of your games under custom made categories and searching has been speeded up and simplified.

The whole user interface has been given a major polish and very nice it looks too.
