Enterprise networking software vendor Cisco has announced a Tandberg-branded Telepresence Starter Kit at a discounted rate of almost 70 percent from the original price, in order to "take Telepresence all the way down to the desktop".
The announcement was made during Cisco Partner Conference, in which the company's partners were eagerly waiting for the company's plans to integrate Tandberg's portofolio with its own.
According to the networking giant, the Telepresence Starter Kit will be made available to customers at a packaged price of $13,000, complete with 50 mobile licenses, as opposed to the original rate of $40,000.
The company's top officials said that the discounted price of the product will allow the company to penetrate the market at multiple levels and promote the technology of video conferencing among enterprise technology users.
Cisco's acquisition of video conferencing technology vendor Tandberg had come has a good news for its partners, who believe that now, it will be able to fill the gaps in its product portfolio, offering complete communication solution to businesses.
Expressing his views on the matter, the CTO of long-time Cisco partner Presidio Networked Solutions, Dave Hart, said in statement that “Cisco has struggled mightily and we have struggled with them. If you wanted a Cisco-based video strategy you had high-end Telepresence rooms with an immersive experience – no doubt terrific – or you had desktop video with WebEx, but really nothing in between.”
