Online gaming company Valve has released its online video game portal, Steam, for the Mac.
The Steam application for Mac, which is available as a free download on the Steam website (http://store.steampowered.com/) is only compatible with Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.8, Snow Leopard 10.6.3 or later operating systems.
Currently only 64 games are available for the Mac platform, but the company has promised it will keep adding new titles every Wednesday for the next few weeks.
All the games available for Mac come with the Steam Play feature that allows players to use their saved game data whether they switch to playing on a PC or Mac.
When Valve had first announced the Steam for Mac platform in March, the company's business development head Jason Holtman had said: “Steamworks for the Mac supports all of the Steamworks APIs, and we have added a new feature, called Steam Play, which allows customers who purchase the product for the Mac or Windows to play on the other platform free of charge.”
