Rollable display tips up at last
Sony has developed an OLED display so flexible it can me wrapped around a pencil.
The new screen material is just 80 µm thick - thinner than a human hair - and so flexible that it can rolled into a cylinder just 4mm in diameter.
Sony has acheived the remarkable flexibility by replacing rigid IC driver chips with organic thin film transistors.
The 4.1-inch display will be officially unveiled at the SID gathering in Seattle this week.
It's only a matter of time before we're all wearing t-shirts with high definition displays built in.
