Apple Launches Safari 5

Apple has launched the latest version of its Safari web browser, Safari 5, during its annual World Wide Developers Conference in San Francisco.

Apple claims that Safari 5 is 30 per cent faster than the previous Safari browser, twice as fast as Mozilla Firefox and 3 per cent quicker than Google Chrome, currently is the fastest browser in the market.

The new web browser incorporates Nitro JavaScript, enabling it to run at such high speeds.

Safari 5 will also offer a host of new technology, including full screen play back , HTML5 Geo location, HTML5 form validation and closed captions for HTML5 Video. Safari 5 will also feature the Safari Developer Program and Extension builder.

Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing stated: "Safari continues to lead the pack in performance, innovation and standards support. Safari now runs on over 200 million devices worldwide and its open source WebKit engine runs on over 500 million devices.”

Controversially, Safari 5 will also support Adobe's Flash.
