Social Network And Porn Threaten Productivity, Says Report

The biggest threats to productivity and security in UK organisations with mobile workforces are porn and social networking, a recent survey published by IT consultancy Damovo has revealed.

The survey, conducted for Damovo by Vanson Bourne, consulted 200 IT administrators.

More than half cited social networking as the biggest security threat, while 30 per cent believe porn to be a major hindrance to productivity.

Damovo also reported that 8 per cent of IT administrators believe mobile gaming threatened mobile workers' productivity, while 7 per cent blamed mobile TV.

The IT consultancy claims that as more organisations make the shift towards greater mobile working, they are faced with security threats from content accessed by workers from mobiles provided to them for office work.

Alex Donnelly, portfolio manager at Damovo UK, said that organisations need to come up with strategies to restrict what workers can and cannot access from their work mobiles.
