Sony updates PlayStation Network

E3 unveiling

Sony yesterday unveiled an updated version of the PlayStationNetwork at the E3 gaming knees-up.

The new PSN service, PSN Plus, will offer its customers an exclusive range of gaming content along with access to free web services and multimedia features, available using Sony's PlayStation3.

PSN Plus will offer its users four games, including a PSN game, two mini-games and one original PlayStation classic to play each month.

Subscribers to the service will be given preferred access over other users to betas and demos, and will receive discounts of up to 50 per cent at the PlayStation Store, along with automatic updates for demos, patches and firmware.

The service will be available from 29 June, priced at for £39.99 ($49.99) for one year, or £11.99 ($17.99) for three months.

Early subscribers will be offered a free copy of LittleBigPlanet and premium service is free for three months for users subscribing for a whole year within the promotional period.
