Apple's public relations division has claimed that the recently reported email exchange between Apple CEO Steve Jobs and a distressed iPhone 4 customer was fake, Fortune has reported.
The email exchange was reported by tech blog Boy Genius Report, who had posted an alleged e-mail conversation between iPhone 4 user 'Tom' and Apple CEO Steve Jobs.
According to the report, Tom had emailed Jobs to complain about the iPhone 4's antenna problems.
Apparently, Jobs asked the iPhone 4 user to "calm down" and "relax", and told him not to get worked up because of "rumours".
The report also claimed that Steve Jobs had ended the conversation with the words: "Retire, relax, enjoy your family. It is just a phone. Not worth it."
BGR has since attributed the parting shot to 'Tom'.
In the amended article, Steve Jobs' final reply read: "Stay tuned. We are working on it."
Apple's PR team has claimed that the entire e-mail conversation is a hoax.
