Apple Recalls Faulty Time Capsule Drives

Apple has announced it is to recall faulty Time capsule storage drives sold between February and June 2008, the Telegraph reports.

Apple has said in a post on its official support page that the company will either replace or repair faulty Time capsules purchased during this period with serial numbers that start XX807XXXXXX or XX814XXXXXX.

A new Knowledgebase article issued by the company says that the Time Capsule models may not power on, or may unexpectedly shut down when in use.

“If Apple or an Apple authorised service provider confirms that your Time Capsule is affected, Apple will repair or replace it free of charge,” the article reads.

The article also states that data in the capsules would be transferred to a backup device until the Time Capsule is repaired or replaced, and advises customers in addition to back up their data themselves.
