AOL has inked a deal with British newscaster ITN to show hundreds of news videos on its websites.
The move comes as part of AOL's initiative to make the company a major online content portal.
According to UK newspaper The Guardian, the company will receive video news clips relating to business, world news, showbiz, UK news and sports as well as entertainment and lifestyle content including, movies, video games, fashion and TV.
AOL's European head, Kate Burns, told the paper: “By bolstering video across the AOL UK platform we are offering advertisers even more opportunities to reach our engaged audiences as we programme the most compelling multimedia experiences across our rich, topical and trusted content.”
Managing Director of ITN Productions, Mark Browning said: "We're delighted to be providing AOL, one of the most recognised digital brands in the world, with our comprehensive multimedia content offering.
Since splitting with Time Warner and becoming independent back in December, AOL has implemented strategies designed to not only enhance the quality and quantity of content available on the platform, but also increase its advertising revenue.
