Facebook has released simplified privacy control options for users who access the platform from their mobile browser. The updated privacy settings bring the full desktop controls to all mobile browser versions of the site.

The official Facebook application for Google's Android platform has been updated, bringing a host of new features and improvements. The Facebook for Android application version 1.3 comes with an enhanced user interface and adds new icons to its main menu.

Google is looking to social gaming in an attempt to compete with Facebook in the social networking market. The company has been in talks with a number of entertainment and online social gaming companies, including Playdom and Zynga, creator of Facebook favourite Farmville, to develop games for its upcoming social networking platform.

Apple has announced that its iPhone 3G will not be supported in its future mobile gaming networks. The company's Game Centre has recently been made available for iPhone application developers along side the third beta version of its iOS 4.1 update.

Apple's iPad tablet device has been labelled a "game changer" for the news media industry by Rupert Murdoch. He told the Wall Street analysts that iPad is a gadget that can potentially encourage young people to develop good reading habits.
