T-Mobile announced that it will start selling the RIM Blackberry Pearl 3G on PAYG for as little as £250, a price that includes free internet and email for six months and free text for life if you top up £10 per month.
The phone, which sticks to the form factor of the previous popular Pearl handsets, adds 3G functionality, upgrades the camera to 3.2 megapixel with flash, throws in built-in GPS functionality and will be upgradable to Blackberry OS 6 when it comes out.
The handset will appeal to those looking for a Blackberry phone or BBM access but without the bulkiness or being overwhelmed with unwanted features. Some might frown at its small screen size but its Suretype keyboard technology and the mini optical trackpad will work wonders.
Still we believe that £250 is a tad too expensive for such a phone when you can get something like the T-Mobile pulse of the Blackberry Curve 8520 for £100 less.
Likewise, you can expect to get the Palm Pre, the HTC Widlfire or the Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Pro for roughly the same outlay.
