A Netflix application may be on its way to Google's Android operating system in the near future.
According to a job posting recently advertised by Netfix, the company is need of a Android Video Playback Expert to help "build Instant Streaming client implementations on Android devices."
The job listing states that the company requires a “senior engineer with a strong background in embedded and mobile development, specifically on media-enabled devices.”
Earlier, the company had announced that it would not be offering applications for mobile devices as it was concentrating on bringing its services to gaming devices and set top boxes.
However, after the launch of Apple's iPad, Netfix immediately released an application for the tablet. At the time, the company had also also confirmed that it was working on an iPhone version of the application as well.
Speculation has suggested that the Android application will be released around the same time as the iPhone version.
Netflix allows users to stream video content from the company's library, directly to their devices.
