Murdoch planning download-only newspaper

iPad has changed the game

Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation is planning a dedicated, digital-only newspaper aimed at the iPad and other portable devices.

The Australian media magnate's company is already known to have a dedicated tablet group beavering away on existing publications, but this will be the first time an established news organisation has created an entirely original title for Apple's iPad and the Tsunami of wannabe devices expected to start flooding the market in the coming months.

Murdoch has been at the forefront of porting content over to Apple's proddable PC with his flagship New York Times rag being one of the first newspapers in the queue the minute Steve Jobs strode onto the stage clutching the ten-inch slab of glass and aluminium. In fact he went so far as to describe the iPad as "a game changer" when talking to bean counters about expanding his gargantuan piles of cash.

According to Electronista, the new downloadable publication will be aimed at 'yoof' and will employ a staff of several dozen writers.
