Cop wants cash for using his BlackBerry off duty

Could cost Chicago millions

A police sergeant is suing the city of Chicago because he has been using his BlackBerry smart phone out of hours.

Sgt. Jeffrey Allen not only reckons he should be getting paid for logging onto the device once he has clocked off at work,he also thinks all of his cop colleagues should be paid overtime back-dated for three years.

Allen's attorney weasled, "What we are saying is he's using this mobile device at the behest of the Police Department very routinely and very often off duty and not being compensated for all the time spent on the device doing the city's work," according to DailyTech.

Chicago Mayor Richard Daley has pointed out that if were to charge the city every time he made a phone call the bill would run into millions, but then he isn't paid by the hour to get shot at by crack heads.
