Google Hires Secretary Of State Staff For Think Tank

Google is said to be working on a new project aimed at providing technology solutions to developing nations.

For this purpose, the search giant has hired US State Department employee Jared Cohen to spearhead the Google Ideas project, Fortune reports.

Google Ideas aims to be a think-tank of technology based solutions that can be used to solve the world's problems and is expected to be based in New York.

Fortune has also reported that Cohen's current boss, Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, is aware that he will soon be working with Google full-time.

Clinton had retained Cohen in the State Department after she took over from former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice under the Bush administration.

Cohen is said to be well-connected and has travelled to the Middle East and met some of its leaders, including Iraq president Jalal Talabani and King Abdullah II of Jordan.

He has also authored a book titled "Children of Jihad", which promotes the use of technology to cure social upheaval in the Middle East.
