Intel buys TI's cable modem business

Intel said it has signed an agreement to acquire Texas Instruments' cable modem product line. The chip maker reckons the deal will enhance its focus on the cable industry and related consumer electronics market segments, meaning system-on-chip products, based on its Atom processors. New products in the pipeline will include set-top boxes, gateways and modems for the cable industry, based on TI's Puma product lines with the Data Over Cable Service Interface...
