Google's Android platform has registered a 47 per cent month-on-month rise in advertising requests in July, the latest data revealed by mobile advertising firm Millennial Media has shown.
The data also showed that Apple's figures have reduced by 1 per cent since June.
The report highlights that advertising requests on Android grew by 690 per cent since the start of the year, and that Apple's have decreased by 15 per cent over the same period, indicating at a shift from earlier advertising metrics.
Millennial Media said that Google had taken over the second spot in the US Device OS mix with a market share of 19 per cent. Research in Motion was pushed to third place with a market share of 16 per cent.
Apple remained at the top spot with a massive market share of 55 per cent.
The company said: “Android's OS became the second largest in the smartphone OS mix for the first time since we began reporting the OS mix in August 2009.”
