IBM has launched a new social media training initiative to instruct partners in SMM (Social Media Marketing) tactics to help develop and expand new revenue streams. The new partner initiative comes after an IBM survey found that around 45 per cent of IBM Business Partners are working with social media to promote their existing services and develop revenue streams.

American broadcaster ABC has announced that it is to launch its Video on Demand (VoD) service outside of North America for the first time. ABC has signed a deal with UK-based broadband and telephony service provider BT Vision to offer its first VoD service in the country.

BlackBerry maker Research in Motion (RIM) has proposed to create an industry forum to provide data to Indian security agencies. The move has been proposed in order to avoid its BlackBerry services being banned in the country.

A recent survey has suggested that only 2 per cent of UK consumers will purchase a 3D TV set in the next 12 months. The survey, which was conducted on behalf of Deloitte by Yougov, interviewed 4,199 Brits, of which only 89 respondents confirmed that are considering buying a 3D TV in an years time, despite the millions consumer electronic giants are spending on 3D technology

Sales of computers in the last quarter in Western European countries have grown by nearly 20 per cent compared to the same quarter in 2009 according to analyst firm Gartner.
