Toshiba Names Android Tablet As The Folio 100

The new tablet PC device from computer maker Toshiba has been christened as Folio 100 and will come with Android 2.2 Froyo, running on the Nvidia Tegra 2 processor.

According to NetbookItalia, the device is most likely to be featured in this year's IFA taking place in Berlin this week, where Toshiba has scheduled a press conference.

Earlier, hardly any details of the device were disclosed but the latest revelation made by NetbookItalia indicates that the Toshiba tablet is designed to give the Apple iPad a run for its money.

The device will run on the latest Android OS 2.2 and will feature the all-powerful Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, which is designed to bring enhanced media capabilities to mobile and tablet devices.

The Folio 100 will also come with Flash support and a front-facing 1.3-megapixel camera. Packed with an internal storage capacity of 16 GB, the tablet will also feature a card reader, USB support and a HDMI cable slot.

The device will have a 1024x600 pixel 10.1-inch multitouch screen and will come with 2 powerful speakers along with a microphone; possibly pointing to a video conferencing feature.

In addition, Folio 100 will also come with a wide range of productivity software along with native support for eBooks.
