Social news sharing platform Digg has announced former Amazon executive Matt Williams as its new chief executive officer.
In a blog post, interim Digg CEO Kevin Rose said that even though he will be involved in the product, Williams will be the one handling the day-to-day operations of the business.
Rose explained that Williams has considerable experience from working with Amazon in different departments. He said that the new Digg CEO was previously the head of Consumer Payments at Amazon and before that, he was handling the community service division of Amazon.
Williams was the founder and CEO of LiveBid.com, which was later acquired by Amazon in May.
In a statement, Williams said that “The launch of version 4 was a big moment for Digg and I believe in the potential of this new platform. There is so much innovation yet to come -- being the best in the world at curating news means solving the information overload we all experience every day.”
