Microsoft Introduces EAS For Hotmail

Software giant Microsoft has dished out Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) for its popular Hotmail email service, which would allow Exchange users to beam their emails, contacts and calender to mobile devices, including the iPhone.

The company explained via a blog post that the Exchange ActiveSync brings a high level of synchronisation between Hotmail users and their mobile devices.

It added that “EAS keeps everything in sync between your phone and Hotmail, so whatever you do on your phone, like delete an email, add an appointment, or update one of your contacts with a new number, will also be reflected on the web, and vice-versa.”

However, this functionality is already being offered by Apple's Mobile Me platform (for a fee), while Google has also been offering basic sync functions for sometimes already; Microsoft releasing sync features for Hotmail might be linked to the forthcoming Windows Phone 7.
