Microsoft is planning to set-up a massive $500 million Generation 4 data center in Mecklenburg County, Virginia, US.
According to a statement (via PCWorld) by Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell, the new facility will be Microsoft's most advanced data center ever. He also said that the company had chosen Virginia over North Carolina and Texas, in order to establish the data center.
The data center, which will generate 50 new jobs, will primarily contain servers with modular technology and advanced cooling mechanics, which will energy efficient, cost effective and ready for a quick deployment.
“The company's search process was long and competitive, and a great team of players came together to show Microsoft that Mecklenburg County was the right fit for its new version of a state-of-the-art data center,” the government said in a statement.
He also informed that the Mecklenburg County will receive a $2 million grant from the Governor's Opportunity Fund for assistance with the project.
