Elpida teams up with Spansion for superfast flash

Spansion, the former flash arm of AMD, is making strides in SLC flash memory development. Having signed on Elpida as a development partner, the companies now claim to have created the world's first charge-trapping 4-Gigabit SLC NAND flash chip. Charge-trapping is Spansion's own MirrorBit architecture developed for 40nm and smaller nodes, that features a simpler design and smaller die size.
