Microblogging giant Twitter has unleashed its highly anticipated official app for Apple's iPad, which is available for free from the iPad App Store and is specially designed to fit the large screen of the iPad.
According to Twitter, the app has been designed to work well with the fluid touchscreen that comes with the iPad, so that navigating between Tweets and accessing media becomes a lot more easier on the platform.
The company explained via blog post that the official Twitter for iPad app, will come with a Pane function, which will open a pane to the right, making efficient use of the 9.7-inch screen on the iPad.
When a particular Tweet is tapped, the pane that opens will display the content in that Tweet. Be it a photo, a video or link to another Tweet, everything will be displayed on the pane.
Twitter for iPad will also come with enhanced media features, which would allow iPad users to play a video inline.
Also, when the video is loading, users will be able to view their timeline and can go back to the video once it is loaded.
The app will also come with enhanced touch gestures, with users being able to view the profiles of a Tweet's author by simply pinching on the Tweet.
Putting two fingers together and swiping downwards on a Tweet will display the replies and comments the Tweet has received.
