Virgin Media has decided to reveal its average broadband speeds with every package to bridge the gap between advertised speeds and the reality.
The Internet Service Provider has accelerated the campaign initiated by Communications watchdog Ofcom urging other ISPs to address claimed misleading advertisements placed by them.
“People are paying for faster and faster broadband but being ripped off by unscrupulous providers who can’t deliver their promised speeds. A change in advertising is urgently needed to build consumer confidence in super-fast broadband and the industry generally.” stated Jon James, executive director of broadband division at Virgin Media.
According to a report from Ofcom, the broadband speed advertised by Virgin Media is much closer to the actual speed provided by the company.
Therefore, it is not surprising that the company has come out in support of its customers who believe that "up to" broadband speeds advertising is a tad misleading.
