Skype beta mocks the lonely

Only for people with ten friends

A recently-released beta of a popular Internet telephony application allows users to initiate video chats between as many as ten people.

The folks at Skype have obviously been working hard, as it was originally intended that the video chat function would only cater for five separate feeds.

Skype has also given the GUI a lick of paint and made improvements to video call quality.

Everyone in the call group must be using the exact same version of Skype 5.0 Beta 2 for Windows otherwise it won't work.

Which is all well and good, but... how many people do you know who are not only geeky enough to be testing beta software - but who also have nine like-minded friends?

We suspect it might be a while before anyone outside of Skype HQ puts this particular bit of software fully through its paces.
