Microblogging phenomenon Twitter has now more than 145 million users on the platform as more people are using their mobile devices to stay connected with the Twitterverse.
In a blog post, the company revealed that there was a 62 per cent rise in mobile users on the platform since mid-April and that almost 16 per cent of new Twitter members use their mobile devices to sign-up for the service instead of going through the website.
The company also added that around 46 per cent Twitter regularly access the service from their mobile devices, a proportion that's set to rise.
Mobile apps have significantly contributed towards people using their smartphone devices to access Twitter.
Around eight per cent iPhone users and seven per cent BlackBerry users access the platform from Twitter for iPhone and Twitter for BlackBerry apps respectively.
Announcing the 145 million users milestone, the company also said that there were more than 300,000 OAuth applications available for the platform, a number which has tripled since the last Chirp conference.
Twitter's Promoted Products advertising line has also exceeded the company's expectations, but the company failed to provide supportive figures.
