The iPhone Dev Team has confirmed that it will start working on a new Jailbreak as soon as Apple releases the iOS 4.1 software update for its iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad devices.
The confirmation was made via Twitter by MuscleNerd, a member of the iPhone Dev Team, who said that Comex will be the one developing the jailbreak exploit for the new software.
The Tweet read: “@TechXero it'll be userland JB if @comex can pull trifecta. Else, wait for new HW cycle (also remember: hole!=exploit)”
According to tech news site Redmond Pie, it still remains to be seen what kind of jailbreak exploit will this one be. Since Apple has already patched the hole used by JailBreakMe, developers will have to come up with new ways to jailbreak Apple devices.
The exploit could either use a userland jailbreak tool, such as Spirit or JailBreakMe, or it could also be a bootrom exploit like Blackra1n.
