Nokia To Launch N8 Smartphone End Of September

Nokia may be gearing up to launch the the N8, its new flagship smartphone in Europe, towards the end of September.

A Finnish news website, Kauppalehti, writes that customers who have preordered the N8 will start to receive the handset on the 30th of September, according to Tapani Kaskinen, a senior communications manager at Nokia.

The unlocked N8 is set to cost between €459 and €499 across Europe while it will be sold unlocked at Play.com for as little as £420 delivered where it is expected to be released on the 8th of October 2010.

The phone has some rather impressive features including a 3.5-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, Symbian^3 OS, a 12-megapixel camera with a Xenon flash, HD recording facilities, a HDMI connection, Dolby Digital Plus technology with 16GB onboard storage.

Vodfaone and T-Mobile have already confirmed that they will be selling the phone and earlier rumours pointed to a release on the 26th of August and subsequently on the 23rd of September.

The phone would be priced well above the HTC Desire but will cost less than the iPhone 4 16GB.
