Niklas Savander, Nokia's executive vice president and general manager of Markets unit, dropped a bombshell this morning at Nokia World 2010 by saying that the N8, the company's first Symbian^3 smartphone, has been the most preordered hardware ever.
100 mobile phone networks from dozens of countries worldwide have signed up to sell the N8. The Nokia World 2010 demo of the N8 was done on the Vodafone network with Savander stressing that the N8 is not about GHz or MHz - the N8 uses an older generation ARM11 processor.
The phone will come with a 12-megapixel camera with a mechanical shutter and Carl Zeiss optics and is being touted as the best entertainment smartphone ever with the largest sensor ever to be used on a phone-like device (you can view some photo samples taken with an N8 prototype here).
Also part of the demo was a Tron HD trailer that was played on the N8 to demonstrate the device's ability to transmit 5.1 surround audio over HDMI.
The N8 is already on preorder at Tesco for a mere £329.97 and can be had on contracts for £35 per month on a two year contract.
