IE9 Reaches 2M Downloads Already

Microsoft Corporation has announced yesterday that its Internet Explorer 9 web browser has been downloaded more than 2 million downloads within 48 hours of its launch.

Last week, Redmond, Washington-based Microsoft released the beta version of its highly anticipated web browser, Internet Explorer 9, and we've already reported that the number of search requests for the browser had shot up significantly within days.

"In first two days, over 2 million people worldwide downloaded IE9 Beta. By comparison, when Internet Explorer 8 Beta launched in August 2008, we had 1.3 million downloads over the first five days." wrote a product management lead of the IE team at Microsoft, Roger Capriotti on a company blog (http://windowsteamblog.com/ie/b/ie/archive/2010/09/20/early-customer-enthusiasm-for-a-more-beautiful-web.aspx).

According to Capriotti, “the Beauty of the Web” website (http://www.beautyoftheweb.com/) has already been visited by more than nine million visitors with around 26 million page views during the same period.

IE9 was released last week at an event in London and has received generally good reviews for its cleanliness and speed.
