LG has announced that it will be delaying the launch of its Android-based tablet in order to focus more on smartphones.
According to Bloomberg, an executive within the company said that LG will probably reveal the tablet device in January next year.
The hardware of the unnamed tablet device is ready, the executive said, but the company is still working to configure it with a suitable Android OS.
Industry experts suggest that LG is waiting for Google to launch the next iteration of the Android OS for its tablet device.
The company has gone through a number of senior management changes in the past few weeks after it failed to make an impact on the crowded smartphone market, which is dominated by RIM, Apple and Google.
The LG tablet is said to have a larger screen than Samsung's Galaxy Tab tablet device but no other specifications have yet been released.
Some experts believe that LG might be too late in launching a competitor to the iPad to succeed.
