Apple's iTunes App Store now has more than 300,000 applications for download, according to data released by mobile ad exchange network Mobclix.
The news was first reported by VentureBeat, which said that, according to Mobclix, Apple recently added the 300,000th app to the app store.
Apple CEO Steve Jobs had previously said that the App Store had 250,000 apps at the beginning of September.
However, according to Fortune, Mobclix data counts apps on the basis of the applications on which its ads have appeared and has also included apps that are no longer available for download.
Meanwhile, data released by 148Apps gives a clearer picture of the App Store. According to the company, there are 334,639 apps in the US store, out of which 278,723 are active and 55,916 are inactive.
A similar App Store breakdown has also been offered by AppShopper, which pegs the total number of App Store apps at 335,257, out of which 55,282 are inactive and 279,975 are active.
