One online retailer has slashed the price the price of the unlocked version of the Dell Venue Pro, the company's first Windows Phone 7 smartphone, to a mere £440.63, £60 less than the price of the handset at Expansys.
Clove Technology says that it will get the unlocked version of the phone fromn the 8th of November and will sell it to US customers for just under $700 (depending on the exchange rate) excluding delivery costs and any custom duties.
The phone, which comes with the second largest screen on any Windows Phone 7 devices, comes with a slide out "portrait" QWERTY keyboard, the only WP7 phone to come with one - both the HTC 7 Pro and the LG Optimus 7 have landscape keyboards.
The Dell Venue Pro packs an "old" Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8250 1Ghz, 512MB RAM, 1GB ROM, 8GB onboard storage with the option of expanding the latter to 40GB with an additional 32GB microSDHC card.
There's also a 4.1-inch OLED WVGA Capacitive touchscreen covered with toughened Gorilla Glass, the same that equips the Streak and the Apple iPhone 4. The keyboard is a 4-row, slide out model that's not unlike that you'd fine on a Blackberry handset.
Dell has also thrown in a 5-megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, a 1400mAh Li-Ion battery, FM Radio and a raft of compatible media file formats. The downside though is the fact that the phone is rather big, 15mm thick and weighing 180g.
