Microsoft has announced that its Microsoft Tag 2-D barcode technology has proven to be a success with one billion Tags being printed in the past four months.
According to the software giant, around 2 billion Microsoft Tags have been printed since its launch in January 2009. Microsoft said that one billion Tags had been printed within 18 months of its launch.
The software giant also indicated that Microsoft Tag technology was used in 100 million magazine issues since August.
Microsoft is planning to add more interactive digital experiences to brand advertising and marketing campaigns in over 100,000 Tag accounts.
Aaron Getz, general manager of Microsoft Tag, said in a statement: “Consumers are rapidly embracing smartphones, which opens a new marketing channel for savvy businesses. Microsoft Tag gives brands and their agencies a powerful way to engage this growing set of connected consumers and create immersive experiences that connect the digital world to the physical world.”
“With Tag, businesses can build compelling customer scenarios to drive engagement and retention, easily measure the effectiveness of their campaigns, and explore new merchandising opportunities for their products,” he added.
