The BBC is on the verge of launching its highly awaited BBC One HD channel, that will air alongside BBC HD.
The One Show will be the first program to air on the simulcast channel, which launches at 7:00 PM today.
The channel will be available on Freeview, Freesat, Virgin and Sky and will make the most of the BBC One programs available in HD.
The BBC plans to launch all BBC One shows in HD by 2012 and the launch of the channel is being seen as an overall strategy by the BBC to switch to HD altogether.
Some of the programs that will be available besides The One Show are EastEnders - which will be available from Christmas Day - Holby City, Children In Need and Film 2010.
Daniel Nagler, Head of HD at BBC, said when the channel was first announced back in May that “the arrival of the UK's favourite channel in HD - as a second HD channel from the BBC - will increase the range and choice of HD programming we can offer the ever growing HD audience.”
